2nd Wildlife Habitat Restoration on Private Lands Conference. No resource left behind: A holistic approach to land stewardship. - May 8 - 10, 2012.

Faulkner County Natural Resources Center, Conway, Ark.

Registration is closed. Conference is full. No walk-in's can be accepted.

Welcome to the Wildlife Habitat Restoration on Private Lands Conference. This two-and-a- half day conference will bring together professionals from many agencies and organizations dedicated to habitat restoration on private lands. The purpose of the conference is to improve communications among and between agencies and organizations, to offer cross-training about private lands programs, to share landowner success stories, to learn about successful on-the-ground techniques, and to provide updates about farm bill programs as well as other information of relevance to those working with private landowners.

Who should attend? This conference targets state, federal and non-governmental wildlife and fisheries biologists and foresters engaged in habitat restoration and delivery of conservation programs to private landowners. This includes private lands biologists (AGFC), US Fish and Wildlife Partners program biologists, Ducks Unlimited biologists, district conservationists, foresters (state, consultants), and county Extension agents to name a few. For brevity, the target audience will be referred to as “private lands professionals.” Exemplary landowners, particularly those who will be receiving recognition, may attend.  University faculty and students may offer presentations on their research regarding the newest habitat restoration techniques.

Conference Objectives

1. Educate private lands professionals about holistic land stewardship and conservation planning.

2. Inform professionals about new and innovative habitat and restoration techniques.

3. Learn about success stories from private landowners who have restored wildlife habitats and can serve as examples for other landowners.

4. Develop an awareness of existing funding opportunities for planning and implementation of conservation practices on private lands.

5. Offer continuing education credits and in-service training for private lands professionals.

6. Provide networking opportunities for private lands professionals.
